Flexible Intelligence and Passionate Drive: The Keys to Innovation and Productivity

• Flexibility is the Hallmark of True Intelligence

  • Human intelligence is flexible. We are not ruled by instincts alone

  • With flexible intelligence we can:

    • Observe our surroundings

    • Decide how we want things to go drawing on a large palette of possibility

    • Take steps to bring about those desired results

  • As human beings we can create fresh, new responses to any new situation and we can change our minds at any time.  With this flexibility comes inherent power.

• Trust Your Own Thinking

  • The common formulas dictating what we should be thinking narrow our palette of possibility and, therefore, stifle the creative process. Creativity breeds innovation

• Know What You Are Feeling

  • It is not useful to respond to life based on how we are supposed to feel. It is our own desire that motivates us. Desire provides the drive to maneuver against horrible odds. Desire provides the passion needed for victory. Passion drives productivity.

I AM, THEREFORE I WILL: A Personal Story of Resiliency, Will and the Transformative Powers of Music

Epileptic seizures began for me at age three and music training at age five. Music performance and intractable epilepsy then co-existed in my system for over thirty years until my right hippocampus, amygdala, and temporal lobe were removed in four brain surgeries. I am, today, a concert violinist without seizures. Much simpler.

This is a multi-media presentation. I will use words, video-tapes of my seizures, scans of my own brain, and perform the music that kept my spirit driving forward all these years. While impaired consciousness (seizure) cancels the intent of the self, unimpaired consciousness delivers the power of the self. It is the perception of this power that gives rise to the will. It is access to passion that drives it.
